Who doesn’t love that soft, beach-y highlighted hair? Regardless of the time of the year the balayage boom is still  in full swing, with no signs of slowing down. But why? Well, on the tresses of the most photographed women in the world like Ciara, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker and Rihanna, balayage has made a name for itself! I love it!

Balayage and sun-kissed highlighting techniques are so popular, because of the its natural, soft finish. Its diversity and the fact its completely bespoke to each individual. In this colouring case, less is certainly more. Also this technique grows out so beautifully. the regrowth is so little or next none because of the colour not fully penetrating the hair at the root.

So, on Jess’s hair I used a mixture of different techniques. Mainly balayage but also some ombre and classic highlighting. I used Schwarzkopf BlondMe Premium Lift with 9%/30vol (Olaplex was added to mixture) working from the nape upward. swapping from left to right so the lift was even and left to process from 45 minuets without heat. I rinsed the lightner and toned with Schwarzkopf 9-14 and 2.5% (Olaplex was added to the mixture). I applied the toner at the root first for 5 minuets and then pulled through the mid lengths and ends. Creating at slightly darker root or ‘shadow root’ which helps further with the regrowth.

To finish, I shampooed and conditioned. I styled Jess’s hair with Schwarzkopf Osis+ range and Babyliss Curling Tongs.
